An Ecosystem of Your Choosing
There are several companies that integrate smart home devices into their ecosystems.
Some take the “walled garden” approach by locking you into a their own platform for everything, but all devices work together flawlessly.
Others provide access to linking up with several smart home setups of your choosing. I work with all of them and can offer advice as to which is best for you.
Inexpensive Solutions
Most smart home setup solutions are relatively inexpensive. Nothing forces you to jump in and buy dozens of items immediately. Converting your home to smarter technology can happen over time.
I’ll be here to help you through that transition whether you want everything all at once, or take small bites and do it over time. The choice is yours!
I will supply all of the technology you need based upon your personal preferences and needs.
Smart Home Setup Questions
- Why would someone want a smart home? It’s convenient. Some individuals find comfort in being able to remotely control and manage their home setup when they are not home, or enable their home to project specific lighting or take actions at specific times of the day. It’s also nearly seamless. You won’t find ugly devices hanging out of every wall in your home, so you do not have to sacrifice the aesthetics of your home.
- While there is no limit to HOW smart your home can be, your investment can be as simple as one device, your entire house talking to you, or somewhere in between.

Apple Home
Not just for iPhone users, but it certainly helps. Apple Home, also known as HomeKit, works best for those who love Apple products, and are willing to buy Apple-branded products to improve their tech lineup.
However, it is not required to utilize Apple’s devices. Many third party devices work with Apple’s ecosystem, but Apple’s devices often do not work well inside of other ecosystems.
Google Home
Google is not just known for Android phones. In fact, you do not need an Android phone to utilize Google’s ecosystem. Most services that connect do not require their own app to use, so you can manage your entire ecosystem in one place.
Most items that are compatible with Google Home are often compatible with other ecosystems as well, so you can connect with Google and migrate later. Keep in mind that Google’s own products work best within Google’s ecosystem.
Works With Most
Some people want to be off the cloud or have more control over the data their smart home is transmitting.
Those people opt for their own servers that utilize smaller companies that connect with many (but not all) smart home devices.
Don’t choose this option unless you are prepared to put in the extra work. Managing your own home server is like having a constantly running desktop computer tower running in a room of your house 24/7 and needs some technical knowledge to upkeep.
Why to people like this option? You are entirely in control of what you do with your data.
Want to utilize some aspects of all of the available choices? No problem! I can recommend a solution that does not peg you into one ecosystem or another long-term.
